Politico – Citizens United PAC endorses Allen – 2/10/11
By David Catanese — On the first day of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, the Citizens United PAC has endorsed George Allen in the Virginia Senate race. In tandem with its endorsement, Citizens United PAC contributed $5,000 to Allen’s campaign, which received a boost Tuesday when first-term Sen. Jim Webb said he’d pass on another campaign. Notably, Citizens United referred to Allen as governor — and not senator — in its endorsement message and called the commonwealth “the epicenter of the 2012 campaign.”
“George Allen is the true conservative in the race to take on the eventual Democrat nominee. Governor Allen has served the Commonwealth of Virginia with a steady conservative hand, and will bring those conservative values back to the United States Senate. Picking up the Virginia Senate seat is vital for Republicans to retake the majority in the United States Senate, and George Allen is the best candidate to achieve that goal,” said Citizens United President David Bossie.
