Politico: After Debt Vote, Mourdock Snags Citizens United – 8/03/11
Citizens United’s political action committee is getting behind Richard Mourdock in the Indiana Senate race, POLITICO has learned. The increasingly visible conservative group headed by David Bossie throws its weight behind the State Treasurer a day after Sen. Dick Lugar voted in favor of the compromise to raise the debt ceiling.
“Dick Lugar could have showed some spine in the recent debt vote and followed the junior Senator from Indiana, Dan Coats, in voting “no” on a piece of legislation that does not solve our nation’s debt crisis,” said Bossie in a statement prepared for release later Wednesday. “After 35 years in Washington, Dick Lugar does not understand what it means to be a conservative Republican.”
